Sea Salt

Sea water has been evaporated to make salt for thousands of years. Maltese sea salt has a unique flavour and this particular salt is from Gozo. It’s flavoured with cinnamon and orange which is a classic Maltese combination you can find in cakes, herb teas, and sweets. This flavoured salt is delicious sprinkled sparingly on carrots, butternut squash and popcorn! The sea is ever present in Malta. Even if you can’t see it, you can always hear it or smell it or feel the strong onshore breeze. People come for the activities the sea offers; the water can be both enchanting and dramatic, a social destination and political with issues around migrant boats. Boats are important too - from yachts to local ferries. You can take a luzzu (fishing boat) in the evening to catch your dinner, or a trip around the small island of Comino to visit the famous blue lagoon.
