Partners

Tabletop Travels is the result of extensive collaboration and support from partner organisations, all of whom bring a wealth of skills and knowledge.

Two notable partners from inception are Alive Activities and Stand & Stare. Alive Activities supported us to distribute our boxes across Bristol and connect with older adults in the community. Stand & Stare developed our understanding as to how to enhance the experience through digital media using QR codes.

Further partners have included Wellspring Centre, Southmead Development Trust, Bristol Dementia Voice, Age UK and The Marmalade Trust in Bristol. Beyond we currently work with Home Instead in Weston-super-Mare, Great Oaks Hospice and the Sedbury Space in the Forest of Dean.

To date these partners have helped us to distribute over 600 boxes - either through their individual contacts with older adults, or by hosting a Tabletop Travels Tea Party.

Funding partners have included the UKRI in September 2023 and September 2024.

As part of these funding rounds, we joined the Zinc Catalyst Programme. Zinc exists to scale ways to solve the world’s most pressing social issues and their commercial experience, wider connections and all-round guidance was invaluable in helping us shape the future.

At the end of 2025, we became ImpactU awardees which will help underpin our work in 2026.

Can you help?

In 2026, Tabletop Travels is actively building its network of partnerships to help transform the CIC and help shape the next phase of its development.

We are seeking collaborations with:

  • Corporates who are looking to make a meaningful impact in the community

  • Charities and social action groups whose mission is to tackle loneliness and isolation in older adults

  • Individuals who are interested in getting involved in their local communities and want to share the joy of travel with isolated older adults

What Our Partners Say

  • ''Tabletop Travels is a fantastic initiative that enables older people to immerse themselves in cultures from around the world. The boxes are high quality and have been well received by older people within our community at The Beehive Centre. It has been great working with Tabletop Travels, as it supports our charitable aims of reducing isolation and loneliness, connecting communities and offering new experiences that promote wellbeing. Tabletop Travels is a valuable project, and we hope to continue our partnership in the future.''

    — Amber Williams, Beehive Community Manager, Whitehall, Bristol

  • "Tabletop Travels represents the best of British gerontology, developed as part of an exciting research project and properly centring older people in the creation of something simple and impactful."

James Fletcher, Assistant Professor in Digital Futures, University Of Bath

This project is a collaboration between Alive Activities, Bristol University and Stand + Stare and funded by Zinc & UKRI

Our Founding Partners

To ensure we maximise the impact from our funding and donations we distribute boxes in areas that are typically challenged economically and socially. Our voluntary distribution partners are embedded in these communities and enable us to reach people most in need. They are an important part of what we do and we’re so thankful to them.
