Marbles

In Malta, marbles (il-bocci tal-hgieg), or even large ball bearings, beads or round stones, have traditionally been used for a variety of games. One game, Boċċi, was played by my aunty and uncle when they were younger (they are now 89 years and 86 years respectively). With, say 3 marbles per person, you would flick (using your first finger and thumb) your first marble into position and then try to knock/hit your opponents marbles using the same technique!
Boċċi is a form of boules or bowls and exact rules vary from club to club. Use your marbles to see who can roll them closest to a jack that you can improvise from a bead or pebble. Traditional marbles are made of glass and so were produced locally.
