Hello, I’m Sunita!

Welcome! Or as they say in Maltese, ‘Merħba’

pronounced  ‘MER-h-ba’

Dry heat that hits you as you step off the plane, pale hues of limestone villages, summer nights lit up by silver and gold fireworks, cool seas, the bittersweet first sip of the national drink; Kinnie. I’m Sunita and I’m thrilled to be bringing Malta to you - a small island with a huge place in my heart.
I’m half Maltese and half Indian and I split my time between London and Malta. My mum’s family are from a town called Sliema and her maiden name was Calleja - a common Maltese surname with Spanish roots. I was born in the UK and my dad ran a travel agency for holidays to Malta. We came to see family and friends at every opportunity.
My childhood summers combined swimming daily at the Reef Club at the Dragonara Westin Hotel (where I had my wedding reception in 2023!) and meeting all the family every night in for a drink along the seafront in Sliema; often called the ‘Chelsea of Malta’ with its smart shopping and bars. The coastline has changed so much – from beautiful standalone villas to now tall flat blocks. The view of the sea is ever present though – most mornings start with a brew on the balcony overlooking the sea. Right in front of our apartment there are some very special features; ancient saltpans carved into the rocks. These are mainly used now by social media influencers trying to get the perfect shot by the sea!
