Beeswax Candle

Candles are an important part of my childhood, the smell of beeswax lingers in my memory. We used to go to St. Peter’s Church, opposite the port of Tarragona, where my grandparents lit five candles; one each and three for their siblings. Even today, when I enter that church, the smell transports me back to Sundays. A walk around the port, and then my grandparents would attend mass. The priest explained that the flowers that the bees feed on influences the subsequent smell of their wax. So, because these candles are made from local wax, the smell I recognise so strongly is specific to this area.
